Otherwise, it&#8217;s very similar to disc brakes on other cars.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Start by removing some fluid from the brake fluid reservoir. Then, remove the anti-rattle spring<br \/>\n<\/b><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Use a large C-Clamp to retract the piston.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Remove the rubber boot covering the caliper bolts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>You&#8217;ll need a CR-V7 hex bit to remove the caliper bolts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/5.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Remove the caliper and old shoes.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Hang the caliper to protect the rubber brake hoses.<br \/>\n<\/b><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/7.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Remove the caliper bracket with an 18mm socket.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/8.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Remove it to allow the rotor to be replaced.<\/b><br \/>\n<b><br \/>\n<\/b><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/9.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>On other cars, the rotor usually falls off at this point. Mercedes has a small CR-V5 bolt that holds the rotor onto the axle.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/10.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><b><br \/>\nInstall the new rotor and replace the retaining bolt.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/11.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Reinstall the caliper bracket and bolts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/12.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>These need to be tight (send me an e-mail if you know the number of foot pounds).<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/13.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>I didn&#8217;t get the piston seated all the way earlier.\u00a0 So, a little more pushing with the C-Clamp was necessary.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/14.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Replace the brake pad warning sensor.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/15.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Snap the new inner pad into the caliper.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/16.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Lubricate brake shoe sliding surfaces with a small amount of lithium grease.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Hold the outer pad on the rotor and slide the caliper on.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/17.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Reinstall the caliper bolts with the CR-V7 bit.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/18.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Replace the rubber boots.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/19.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Plug in the brake lining sensor wire.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/gerdhoeren.me\/Discoveries\/BrakeImages\/20.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\n<b>Bleed some fresh fluid through the brake lines.\u00a0 (Have an assistant press the brake petal while you open the valve with a 9mm wrench.\u00a0 Close the valve when the brake petal reaches the bottom.
